SUMMARY:
The Structural Engineer is responsible for assisting in the successful operations of the Chicago, Illinois office. The position requires a high level of ethical and professional conduct in technical and managerial activities. This position reports to the Regional Manager of the Chicago, Illinois office.
TYPICAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned.
- Responsible for assisting in the identifying and cultivating of new business and clients in Illinois.
- Assist in preparing an annual comprehensive marketing plan addressing both short term and long term marketing goals.
- Assist in ensuring that external client focus is top priority of the region, and that systems, processes, and activities that focus on the client at all levels of the region are implemented.
- Be active in Technical societies such as; ACEC.
- Be available to attend meetings or events outside of normal working hours.
- Assist in ensuring that staff needing specialized training in health and safety procedures and practices receive such training and that safety is stressed as an important aspect of their work.
- Supervise bridge inspection, evaluation, and design or repair of new bridges.
- Supervise above water and underwater inspection of bridges and waterfront structures.
- Responsible for assisting proposal preparation, estimating project costs, contract negotiation, project quality, and project profitability.
- Prepare and monitor project budgets.
- Responsible for project schedules and timely completion of projects.
- Serve as a senior project manager or senior project engineer on complex projects and as a designated client contact.
