SUMMARY:
The Resident Engineer is responsible for assisting in the successful operations of the Albany & Rochester, New York offices. This position reports to the Regional Manager of the Albany/Rochester, NY offices.
TYPICAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned.
- Plans, organizes, and supervises resident engineering and construction inspection activities for major projects.
- Ensures overall quality in the completed projects.
- Serves as the senior site representative for the inspection of contractor construction activities, payments, processing and negotiation of claims and change orders.
- Supervises a staff of construction management personnel consisting of engineers, inspectors, project control, office engineers, project administrators, and specialty sub-consultants.
- Leads progress meetings and interacts with client on a daily basis. Coordinates responses to RFI's and other technical issues with design engineers. Is able to interpret construction plans, specifications, and contracts.
- Is active in Technical societies such as; ACEC.
- Is available to attend meetings or events outside of normal working hours.
QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS:
To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required.
EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE:
BS Civil Engineering, PE license preferred, NICET IV with specialized experience considered, 15-20 years experience with NYSDOT – NYSTA. Knowledge of NYSDOT-NYSTA specifications, MURK standards, and experienced in large heavy highway and bridges preferred.
