Project Overview
Collins designed of repairs for 55 feet of bulkhead at BP’s riverfront facility in Brooklyn, New York. The project required obtaining all environmental permits and building permits, reviewing previously developed construction alternatives, advancing a preferred alternative to final design, and developing construction documents including plans, specifications, and assisting BP with bid documents.
Prior to design, Collins performed an above water and underwater inspection at the facility of 750 feet of timber and steel sheet pile seawall, as well as a timber-pile-supported high-level platform. Collins then performed an alternatives investigation of a failed portion of the bulkhead. Work included the review of existing geotechnical, utilities, and drawing information; development of three rehabilitation alternatives; and preparation of a summary report identifying a preferred alternative with estimated construction costs.
