Project Overview
Throughout the valley, Las Vegas has strategically positioned fire stations for the safety of the community. Collins’ Las Vegas office has played a key role in helping develop some of these stations.
Specifically, for the City of Las Vegas Fire Station #48, Collins’ services included civil engineering design, construction plans and specifications which involved surveying, coordination with geotechnical, mechanical, plumbing and electrical consultants, drainage study, utility coordination, drive and median relocations, LEED analysis, cost estimates, and contract document assembly. The project also had to comply with Town Center Development Standards.
The scope of work included providing overall site improvement plans for the construction of the new fire station, including plan set preparation from preliminary through 100 percent design. Plans encompassed both on-site and off-site civil improvements for roadway, grading, storm drain, utilities, traffic striping and signing, and street lighting. Plans also involved design of roadway horizontal and vertical control, plan and profile, right-of-way, and design for culvert and storm drain lateral connections to existing drainage facilities. Flasher signal design, signage and striping designs, and intersection analysis were also provided.
Collins’ Las Vegas office also provided site civil engineering services for City of Las Vegas Fire Stations #3, #106, #107, and #108; and City of Henderson Fire Station #3.
