Project Overview
The replacement of a 118-foot thru-truss multi-track CTA Wells Street over Wacker Drive bridge utilized SPMTs to allow full bridge change-out during a 54-hour rail line shut down.
The new 900-ton truss, including all trackwork, was built off to the side of its final location, atop a new post-tensioned concrete elevated roadway. Collins analyzed the truss for erection and transport and the new roadway for the effects of the truss loads, erection cranes and equipment, and designed the required slab shoring system.
