Project Overview
The Sun City Carolina Lakes Community Association engaged Collins to provide civil and structural engineering services prior to transition of the property from the developer to the Association. Collins’ scope included the following assessments:
- 52 of the community’s 161 outfall structures
- 10 earthen dams
- 2 detention ponds
- 25 areas with soil erosion
- 2.7 miles of roadway
- 63,000 square feet of asphalt trails
- 7,000 linear feet of modular block retaining walls
- Main entrance water features
- Concrete retaining wall at the tennis courts
- Kayak launch ramp
- 80-ft single span bridge
- Outdoor pool
- Settlement at houses constructed near a steep bank
- 12 roofs at one of the community’s subcomplexes
Collins was also engaged to prepare maintenance manuals for the outfalls, dams, ponds, roads, and retaining walls.
Collins performed the assessments and prepared detailed reports for all of the assessed areas. The reports included conceptual recommendations and cost estimates for recommended repairs.
