Project Overview
Collins assisted Marine Biological Laboratory (MBL) in their efforts to procure a state grant through the Dam and Seawall Repair and Removal grant program offered by the Executive Office of Energy and Environmental Affairs.
Collins offered MBL administrative support in this pursuit by providing the required figures, a description of the site and proposed project narrative, scheduling information, cost estimates, and other details that were required. MBL was implementing repairs to the stone masonry seawall where existing seawater intake lines penetrate the wall and extend into the pumphouse between CMU block walls to the east and west. Recent coastal storms had damaged the seawall, undermined the block walls, and opened up sinkholes behind the seawall in the public park. MBL intends to reinforce and stabilize the existing structures with cast-in-place concrete walls. Collins provided grant writing support, permitting, and engineering design for repairing the existing seawalls.
