Dan O’Connor is a structural engineer with over 25 years of experience. As Senior Vice President – Federal, he leads the firm’s federal initiatives, overseeing strategic pursuits and managing key relationships with government clients. In addition to his expertise in structural engineering, Dan plays a pivotal role in cultivating new business opportunities and advancing the firm’s presence within the federal sector.
Dan is a commercially certified diver with worldwide experience performing above- and underwater inspections and design of marine facilities—including piers, wharves, dry docks, and floating structures—and has extensive experience performing master planning studies for a wide variety of waterfront infrastructure. He has experience in Design-Build and Design-Bid-Build project plans, specifications, and engineering cost estimates.
Since joining Collins in 2013, Dan has expanded his structural expertise to include bridge design and above- and underwater bridge inspection for clients including Maine Turnpike Authority, RIDOT, MBTA, MassDOT, and various private and municipal clients.
Dan has published several papers relating to structural design in the marine environment, is a National COPRI Board Member—Ports and Harbor Committee, is Chair of the Boston Society of Civil Engineers COPRI chapter, and is a member of ASCE-NH Infrastructure Report Card Committee for Navigable Waters.
