Lessons Learned Replacing Gamble Island Bridges

This presentation will detail the replacement of two privately owned bridges over the Snake River on the Oregon-Idaho border near Boise, ID. The entire life cycle of the project will be discussed, from the initial inspection of the existing bridges, to design and permitting, through final construction and project closeout. Innovative technology used such as unmanned aerial vehicles for construction documentation will be discussed, as well as problems encountered/overcome and lessons learned from the experience.
Jordan Furlan is a professional engineer with over 15 years of experience working on specialized above- and below-water structural integrity assessments. He has performed thousands of structural inspections using various nondestructive testing methods and commercial diving techniques. He currently serves as the Regional Manager of Collins Engineers, Inc.’s Boise, ID, office.
